About the Workshop: The emerging materials ranging from ceramics to thin films and nanomaterials used in technological advancements, with size varying from macro to nano regime, requires a variety of characterization techniques throughout their design and fabrication. Considering this, Department of Chemistry, SRMIST would like to organize a workshop and assemble an interdisciplinary list of renowned experts in materials characterization to transfer their expertise. The workshop provides a conceptual overview of major analytical techniques for materials characterization with demonstration on selected techniques.

About the event: The workshop aims at providing the participants with a necessary understanding of the principles of material characterization and will enable them to develop a characterization strategy to interpret their own research findings. Following the lectures, the participants will take part in demonstration on selected experimental techniques.

·        Transmission electron microscopy (TEM)

·        Surface area analysis

·        X-ray diffraction (XRD)

·        Optical spectroscopy (UV-Vis, PL, TRPL)

·        Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)

·        Electrochemical analysis

·        X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)
